So after two dark cloudy days, I am happy to report that the sun is shining again here in Gianna’s room, and we love that!
I love this gorgeous banner that Isabella surprised us with when they came to visit, so much love went into making it and it really brightens Gianna’s room.
I can’t wait for sweet Gianna to wake and see it!
ok….Big GOD Praises:
her fever that slightly came on last night did not continue to risess, thank God
She opened her eyes slightly to my voice this morning and again slightly squeezed my finger. Happy HAPPY mama!!!!!

So Gianna had a very sleepy day yesterday, so when they tried to lift sedation and wean vent she was lagging. She just wanted to sleep on the Thanksgiving Holiday, and not work too hard. Can’t say I blame her. So they will be trying again today.
Everyone is on board with the plan to work towards extubation for this weekend. Especially, Knowing her risk for reoccuring lung infection is higher the longer it is in there, so they are pushing to get that out. Being that she has no spleen she is more prone to infection.

So, we are praying for EXTUBATION SOON!!!
However, Gia has to work hard.
Please pray:
for strong lungs and ease of breathing so extubation can successfully happen this weekend!
They will be removing her arterial left heart line today which is a procedure that has severe bleeding risks so please pray that goes smoothly
Also they are trying to get her into radiology to re-attempt that central PICC line. Pray for success!! Gianna is a tough case when it comes to getting lines in her.
so far no indication that her heart block has resolved so please pray that her conduction system
(that muscle fiber that allows the top heart chamber to communicate with the bottom heart chamber to beat in rhythm)
in her heart gets in perfect sinus rhythm by next Wednesday or Thursday (10 days post-op) when they will make the final decision to surgically insert pace maker if its not resolved. Pray for healing! !
So today and tomorrow are big steps forward if Gianna lets us, since she is the one setting the pace.
It can be such a struggle to trust in God’s timing …
it can be so hard to ride these ups and downs especially when its been over two weeks since I have held my little girl and see her fully awake.
We are praying that we can be home together well before Christmas to celebrate Gianna’s first Christmas as a family.
Please pray with us.
I got her this heart ornament while I was out the other day taking a walk and praying and getting some sunshine on my face.
I fell in love with the heart and colors and it reminded me of Gia’s happiness and joy.
I saw it and bought it and hung it in her room so that when she wakes up I can tell her that when we get home she will get to hang this on the tree as a symbol of her courage and bravery.
A reminder of her beautiful strong heart that GOD MADE NEW!!!! What a celebration it will be when we are home, what a miracle!
We will get there!
Slow and steady…..I have been encouraged by these verses and pray them over Gianna daily!
Isaiah 40:28-31
“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the EVERLASTING God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives POWER to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases STRENGTH. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall RENEW their STRENGTH; they shall MOUNT UP with WINGS like eagles; they shall RUN and not be weary; they shall WALK and not faint.”
AMEN AMEN!
Can’t wait to see her walk and run again one day soon!!
Fight strong sweet Gia!!!!! We love you! !
Dear friend, I can only imagine your days right now – watching your sweet Gia rest and recover – we are praying often for her healing! I love the banner her sister made (such sweet girls you have – their hearts directed towards Jesus!!!) what a beautiful gift the heart ornament is for Gia and will be beautiful on your family's tree when she goes home!!! Keep fighting strong – God bless you both today and give you a great peace and comfort!!!
