I wrote a tribute to daddy last Father’s Day, and being that it is his birthday, I so wish I could write it in the sky!
Because this daddy is THAT awesome!!
Seriously, we hit the Jackpot with this guy……I just love every ounce of his being!
Today we will celebrate HIM!
And……this tribute, for the “main guy” in our lives, is worth repeating!
There’s just no one like him!………………………….
Daddy:
You are a gift!
I am so thankful that you are the daddy that GOD chose for me to raise babies with. I have been so blessed to witness an amazing and beautiful picture of Fatherhood through my children’s eyes.
This is how they see you, dear daddy…
They  love how you play……You are always the daddy outside with them and the neighborhood kids getting them to play and to be active and purposeful. Whether it’s basketball, football, tag or obstacle course. You are involved, engaged and a part of their world. You are involved. Thank you for showing them that you love just being with them.
They love how you kiss and show affection. You are ALL HANDS and lips ON!! Oh, how they love that you never let any of them go by you with out a HUGE embrace or  a big ol’ kiss, not matter how old they get! Thank you for teaching them how to love through affection, for showing them that they are so delicious and scrumptious!:)
They love how you take the time to play….I mean to REALLY PLAY. You enjoy them. You really know how to play with them and show them that they are fun to be with. Thank you for the many wrestling matches, gun battles, tall forts, water fights, trampoline stunts, video nights, comedy nights, pool games, football games, basketball games, hide and seek in the dark tag and the many ways you laugh with them! You have taught them that hanging out with them is so cool and that’s it’s what you’d rather do than anything else!
They love how you sing and worship the Lord with them. You pull out your guitar and you lead them. They sing and they dance. Thank you for showing them that a daddy is there to teach them how to praise and thank God!
They love that you are humble. You admit when you are wrong and you show them how to ask for forgiveness. Even if you have done wrong to them, you show them that a Godly daddy admits when he is wrong. Thank you for showing them what true humility really is.
They love how you encourage them. You take the time each day to sit with them and talk about their accomplishments and make sure they each know YOU ARE PROUD OF THEM! Thank you for teaching them that you are their biggest fan, and that you believe in them!
They love how you protect them. They know you got their backs. You are their hero and they feel safe with you. Thank you for teaching them that they can always run to their daddy for refuge.
They love that you uphold to a higher standard. You strive for honoring God with your mind, mouth and actions. Thank you for teaching them that they are to not only follow your advice but they can absolutely follow your Godly example.
They love that you are tender. You  know how to tenderly love them when they are hurt, sad or have had a hard day. You don’t expect them to just “get over it” but you take the time to search their hearts and help them figure out life. You pursue them and their hearts. Thank you for showing them that you care about their hurts.
They love that you don’t settle. You challenge them to strive for excellence, yet you give them grace to fall forward if needed. Thank you for gently teaching them the hard lessons in life and holding their hands as they walk through difficult challenges.
They love that you are THERE. You are there in the morning to kiss them each goodbye and pray over their day. You are THERE in a phone call to check in to see how their day is going. You are THERE in the evening at dinner to talk about their day. You are THERE at playtime to laugh and giggle with. You are THERE at bedtime to kiss, hug, talk, share secrets and pray with. You are there in the field coaching them. Thank you for teaching them that a daddy IS THERE.
They love that you love mommy. They see you kiss me, hug me and shower compliments on me. They see you bring me flowers, write me notes, make me dinner, serve me and pamper me. They see you ask me for forgiveness. They see you embrace me when I have had a hard day. They see you putting me first. They see you honoring your wife. They see you praying for me. They see you loving me fiercely. Thank you for showing them what a Godly husband really looks like and how to love your spouse.
They love that you are a man that LOVES JESUS and you are not afraid to show it. You live a life of reckless faith, love and devotion to the Lord. They see you wanting that same love for others and striving to share Jesus. You show them what it means to have a heart for others using Christ as your example.
Though you aren’t perfect, you are the closest thing to is! You are the perfect daddy for them and they know it. Thank you for teaching them the kind of “fatherly” love that points them to the “perfect love” of Jesus.
Thank you for leaving a legacy that our children will be able to pass to their children…..
THEY KNOW YOU LOVE THEM WITH A DEEP, DEEP and FIERCE LOVE! They know that you choose them above all other things in life.
I, as a mommy, can’t imagine a better gift than that!
