A couple weeks ago we had the amazing opportunity to meet John Bently (founder of Harmony House) where Gia was fostered and nursed back to health. Harmony House saved her life in many ways…..
It was a blessing to get to personally thank John…
John Bentley is a man after Gods own heart and I’m so thankful we got the opportunity to meet him in person, thank him and hear his testimony and the great work Harmony Outreach is doing in China, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Africa. Praising God for how He’s weaved our lives together in such a radical way through a precious little warrior girl. Only God.

Very good friends of ours who had the opportunity to visit HH while they were adopting their child last spring were so touched by this ministry that they flew John in to visit and speak at their church, which is not very far from us!!
We also had the blessing of seeing our friends’ child dedication!

And Probably the most powerful moments were when John and other friends, and leaders in the church prayed over our Gianna…that God would work miracles of healing through her surgery and that He’d carry our family through the hard journey ahead. I was humbled and so thankful for how God is bringing encouragement to us in the most beautiful and unexpected places.
Now for her surgery update:
Gianna will get her Pre-op stuff done (EKG, echo, MRI) on November 10 and 11th. Wednesday (Nov 12) is MIRACLE day where Gia will (for the first time ever) have her unique heart converted from 1/2 heart (single ventricle) to FULL heart (double ventricle) circulation. This is a HUGE surgery…..
When I emailed with her surgeon I asked for a condensed summary of what exactly he will be doing so we know how to specifically pray, and so I have a way to share it with you….Gia’s army.
This is Dr”s words:

……I would call the diagnosis as unbalanced av canal, Double outlet RV, with pulmonary stenosis.
In terms of the operation, I would perform repair of the AV canal defect, baffle left ventricle to aorta, and possible aortic root translocation (move the aorta closer to the LV), place a new pulmonary valve and connection from right ventricle to pulmonary artery, and reconnect the superior vena cava back to the heart. A big operation indeed (it will take us most of a full day), but hopefully she will like having 2 ventricle circulation and will respond well to it. About 3 hours on bypass machine.
The heterotaxy can make recovery a bit slower, but not significantly so. We will reassess that when you come to preop visit. I would anticipate 1 week in the ICU and 2-3 weeks on the floor. So all in all about a month in the hospital. ……

well, there it is…in a nut shell. (I know….HUGEST nut shell ever) ugh.
Those who have followed this journey know what an
incredible miracle and opportunity this is. When we first brought Gianna home, we had no idea there was even a small possibility for a FULL repair of her heart. This
past summer was a roller coaster of emotions as we navigated this new possibility and the risks and benefits of taking this path.
We are in awe of God’s goodness for making it so clear….yet, so very anxious due to the magnitude of this surgery.
This has been a quiet few months from Brian and I as we have been trying to process all of this. BUt, honestly it’s just not “process-able”
If you ask us, we will both say that we have MANY emotions and thoughts, fears and “What ifs?” tucked away behind a closed door, and we rarely open that door very much …. except in prayer.
Instead, we try and dwell and ponder the amazement of what GOD WILL DO for her heart
We know we just need to keep walking forward on this path God has so clearly laid out for sweet Gianna without looking to the left or right, We trust God has every detail already planned out and we are to walk forward in faith….trusting Gianna to Him, the ONE who created her and planned out each of her days before any of them came to be.

1)Please pray for a successful surgery with NO complications and fast recovery
2)Wisdom for the doctors
3) peace for everyone involved as mommy is away with Gianna for a long time, pray for siblings
4) health for Gianna as the day draws near
