Gianna did 3 laps around the floor this early afternoon, she’s a superstar carrying her transportable “heart ekg monitor bag” and bringing “Olaf” along (her IV pole). I was so encouraged by her desire and endurance to get up and moving!!! She was in great spirits too! Today her Dupont cardiologist stopped by …he was the first cardiologist she ever saw at home and is 1/3 of her powerhouse trilogy cardiology team. He also agrees it’s the “anti-coagulation” therapy that caused the brain bleed and therefore seizures. It doesn’t matter that she was in an acceptable therapeutic range, because just simply being on This therapy puts a person at risk for brain bleeds (which we knew, but no one expected this, as the risk is slim and normally associated with head trauma or fall, which Gianna did not have ). They are pulling back on the “aspirin” part of the regime but continuing Coumadin because we just simply can’t risk a deadly clot happening in her heart valve . Unfortunately, they can’t promise this crisis won’t happen again …..it’s a horrible delicate balance of risk and benefit she resides in, and puts Gianna’s life in so much need of daily prayer and makes us so dependent on Jesus for her life and protection of her fragile body. Gianna is a strong determined girl and God has given her an amazing will to overcome so many mountains and battles in her life, more than any person should ever have to endure. (And she’s not even 4 yet…her birthday is Sunday )… She humbles me and inspires me, what a miracle she is….I’m so thankful to be her mama, she’s such an amazing gift.
We covet your prayers for wonderful results that show healing on her brain for her CT head scan tomorrow. We need to get her home so she can get back to living life Big and celebrating her birthday ! She’s come so far, by the grace of GOD!
