Surgical plans

Update: Just met w dr. Marx, Gianna’s cardiologist.  The preliminary plan Monday  is to replace her failing  mitral valve,. ….the prayer is to be able to fit a “mechanical” valve in there as opposed to the tissue kind, which is what she currently has.  It seems Gianna’s heart does not agree w a tissue valve.  The challenge will be, “fitting it in”…a tissue valve was originally preferred because they are smaller and Gia has a very small heart and ventricle.   We are praying the mechanical type will fit, since it seems to be the best long term choice for saving her heart.   They also need to close up the VSD holes.  It will be a complicated surgery,  but Dr. MARX is confident for success, and we choose HOPE as well! Thankfully,  CHOP did an amazing job tuning Gia up and she is going into Open Heart Surgery stronger than she was just a week ago.  GOD’S timing is best. She will be getting a more thorough 3D echo later to better assess her heart failure and firm up surgical plans. Please pray with us for completely healed and saved heart, so Gianna can start getting strong,  running and jumping and playing and enjoying life outside of a hospital!
